General information
The School of Philosophy at Zhejiang University seeks to hire one tenure-track faculty member in Logic through its highly competitive and well-funded New Hundred Talents Program. The position is at the level comparable to a US assistant professorship or UK lectureship and is called ZJU100 Young Professor. Exact start date is flexible but ideally should be in Fall 2023 depending on availability.
Applicants must demonstrate excellent research record and teaching competence in logic or related areas. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research profile can complement the strengths of our current logic program, especially in the areas of epistemic logic, knowledge representation and reasoning, and logic in AI. The teaching expectation is roughly 3 courses per academic year. Other responsibilities include thesis supervision at the master's or doctoral level, as well as departmental and university service and organization of research workshops and conferences. Zhejiang University offers faculty an internationally competitive salary and benefits that include a generous starting research fund, one-time relocation fees, and housing allowance. The successful applicant may rent a university apartment during employment, and, after receiving tenure, they are eligible to purchase an apartment designated for those under the one hundred talents program. Qualified faculty will also have received assistance to apply for national, provincial and ministerial-level youth talent projects for additional research funds.

Zhejiang University is one of China's most international universities. It is located in the east coastal city of Hangzhou, 161 km to the south of the economic center of Shanghai. Hangzhou is famous for its beautiful natural scenery and its West Lake in particular. The School of Philosophy is located in the new and vibrant Zijingang campus in the west of urban Hangzhou. It is one of the largest single university campi in mainland China.
Qualifications and Requirements
The appointee must have a Ph.D. in hand, outstanding international reputation as a researcher and show potential for excellence in teaching. Proficiency in Mandarin is not required. English is the main language for all research and teaching responsibilities. However, some basic knowledge of Mandarin will be helpful for an easier adaptation to life in Hangzhou.
